Back Road Boogie -- Day 3 of the 2017 Great Race
Today's route on the 2017 Hemmings Motor News Great Race presented by Hagerty had twists and turns, mountain grades, gravel roads, farm roads and even a race track. We saw cars slide around on tricky corners, and we saw them miss corners all together. There is no doubt that today's ride from Chattanooga, Tennessee to Bowling Green, Kentucky offered some thrills and the intense rallying shook up the standings a little. Josh Hull and Trevor Stahl got the best time of the day with a 4.05 second score, beating out legends of the sport in the process. Maybe it was something to do with those Excelsior Stahl Sport Radial tires? The Team Coker Tire entry of Gary and Jean Ann Martin (Kentucky natives) scored well today, with a total time of 12.61 seconds, putting them into fifth place overall. We had a couple of excellent stops--one in Murfreesboro, Tennessee and one in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Both were filled with smiling faces, and folks who cared enough to cook us a bunch of good food! Bowling Green rolled out the red carpet, by opening up the National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park to all racers, and we even made a hot lap before rolling into Fountain Square at the end of the day. We had fun navigating the back roads of Tennessee and Kentucky, and tomorrow we head to Indiana!
