Michigan Miles -- Day 7 of the 2017 Great Race
Another tough day of rallying is in the books on the 2017 Hemmings Motor News Great Race presented by Hagerty. Director of Competition, John Classen didn't cut the racers any slack today, providing a tough route with lots of short rally legs, which can really throw off the day's scores. With a total of 9 legs on the day, it kept everyone on their A-game. We made two awesome stops today--first was the Stahls Automotive Museum in Chesterfield Township, Michigan. Ted and Mary Stahl are great supporters of the Great Race and have an unbelievable collection of cars, motorcycles, automatic musical instruments, vintage signs and more. We enjoyed a great meal and then headed toward the overnight stop in Frankenmuth, Michigan. The German town has tons of character, and we were blown away with the turnout. Thousands of people crowded the streets, welcoming the racers to their beautiful town. The Team Coker Tire entry of Gary and Jean Ann Martin moved up a position today in the overall standings, putting them in eighth place overall, and sixth place in the Expert division. The field is tough this year, and we only have two more days left! Tomorrow we visit Alpena, Michigan for lunch and then Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
