Firestone | 2.75 Inch Whitewall | 560-15

This Firestone 560-15 bias ply tire features a 2.75 inch wide whitewall and the classic look that makes Firestone one of the most pouplar vintage tire brands. The 560-15 sizing is authentic for many European cars, such as Alfa Romeo, Fiat, and MG, but it is most recognized as THE TIRE for vintage Volkswagen. From 1953 through 1974, this size was used on millions of Volkswagen Beetle and Karhmann Ghia. The 560-15 is also the perfect hot rod front runner, when combined with one of our larger Firestone rear tires, like the 820-15. These classic tires feature vintage Firestone pie crust styling and authentic tread design. They're built in original molds using modern materials right here in the USA! This popular Firestone bias ply pie crust wide whitewall is also available in other select vintage tire sizes.

Genuine Wide Whitewall Tire

This product features a genuine wide whitewall sidewall style. This means that the bright white rubber is added directly to the tire sidewall during initial construction of the carcass, resulting in a truly integrated, high-quality product after vulcanization. Wide whitewall tires were a very popular choice from the 1930's through the end of the 1950's, and were eventually phased out of mainstream production by 1962. Originally, wide whitewall tires featured a bias ply construction, but now Coker Tire offers them in original style bias ply and modern radial construction.

Bias Ply Construction

Bias ply tire construction is a method that was used from the 1900's through the 1970's on passenger cars and light trucks. Bias ply tires feature ply cords that run at a 45 degree angle to the bead, and overlap in a crisscross pattern, depending on how many ply layers are used. This creates a strong tire, but bias ply tires have a tendency to follow breaks or ruts in the pavement. Bias ply tires are the most authentic choice for classic car restorations and traditional hot rod builds. Coker Tire offers a huge variety of bias ply tires for many applications.

Please Note

  • Tire mounted on wheel for demonstration purposes only. Wheel and other accessories are not included. Please note that dimensions listed (tread width, section width and overall diameter) are non-scientific and based on an inflated tire, mounted to a wheel. Dimensions may vary due to rim width and inflation pressure. Please note Chemical Guys Tire and Rubber Cleaner and Adams Polish Tire shine has been linked to Whitewall browning and should not be used. We recommend using our line of tire care products.

Question:
I want to know does 556660 work with 5" wide rim? It says 4,5" other 560-15 seems to be 4-5,5" wide rims?
By Kimmo Vuohijoki on July 05, 2018
Answer:

The recommended rim width is 4.5". If you choose to mount on a rim that is wider than recommended you will run the risk of less than ideal tread wear and in extreme cases, tire dismount.
